On Fertile Ground, Native Artist in the Upper Midwest

August 15th-November 15th, 2014

Please join us to celebrate the wealth and diversity of Native artists from this region! This exhibition will take place once annually over a period of three years. Each show will highlight 15 different artists, ultimately providing a comprehensive overview of 45 artists from Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota and South Dakota.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      2014 Artist include: Judith Allen, Wendy Boivin, Alexandra Buffalohead, Julie Buffalohead, Nelson Chasing Hawk, Jim Denomie, John Hitchcock, Wanesia Misquadace, Karen Savage, Nelda Schrupp, James Star Comes Out, Jodi Webster, Dennis White, Jennifer White, and Monte Yellow Bird.

 Exhibition Events

Opening Reception, Friday, August 15th 5-8pm Artist Talk at 6:30pm

Meet and hear local artists speak about their work.

 

Gallery talk with James Star Comes Out, Friday, October 17th  6-7:30pm

Learn about Lakota artwork with a special focus on horse regalia.

 

Gallery talk & demonstration with Dennis White

Learn about the rare form of Ojibwe finger weaving.

October 25th, 2014, 12pm-1pm Public Demo 1pm-4pm Private Workshop
